Tonight the Badgers Women's Hocky Program opened up it's season by raising their 2011 National Championship Banner and got their 2011-12 campaign off on the right foot, taking out Lindenwood 11-0 in the season opener for both teams.  It was also the 1st game at the Division 1 level for Lindenwood.

The Badgers were without seven major contributors.  F Carolyne Prevost, D Brittany Haverstock, D Stefanie Mckeough, and D Saige Pacholok are all off at Team Canada Camp and the duo of Alev and Derya Kelter are with the Soccer team.  Also missing was Madison Packer who has a concussion.  

All four freshman that saw the ice on Friday were able to amass points in their Badgers debut as Bucky out shot Lindenwood 60-11 on the night and broke out for 7 goals in the 2nd period to seal up the game. The Goalie duo of Alex Rigsby(2 periods) and Nikki Kassa(1 period) combined to stop all 11 shots and record the shutout.  

Player of the Game: 

Kelly Jamanski - She had 2 goals and 3 assists to lead a group of 3 Badgers with 2 goals apiece and also a group of 3 players with 3 assists in the game.

The Badgers will be back at the Kohl Center for game 2 of this series at 2pm on Sunday, so if you are in Madison check them out, it's free attendance for the game for cryin' out loud... Until then ON WISCONSIN!
