The Badgers started the season with some lofty expectations, being picked by the B1G Coaches as the third best team in the conference.  Those expectations have met with some very good results so far and the start of B1G play looms for the Badgers this weekend.

Bucky tested themselves early on, facing then national #1 Notre Dame on the road, unfortunately the ladies came away with a loss, 2-0.  However, they would then rip off a run of 5 straight wins:

- vs. Washington (2-1)

- vs. UWGB (1-0)

- @ Dayton (3-1)

- @ Cincinnati (2-1)

- @ Northern Illinois (2-0)

However, this past weekend that streak came to a screeching halt at the hands of intrastate foe Milwaukee.  The Panthers were ranked #17 at that point and the loss marks the 2nd loss against a ranked opponent for the Badgers.  Overall a 5-2 record at this point is a pretty good mark and the Badgers will look to build on that has B1G play opens up soon.

On the year the Badgers are clearly led by the duo of Cara Wells with 9 points (4 goals, 1 assist) and Laurie Nosbusch with 7 points (2 goals, 3 assists).  That shouldn't come as much of a surprise as Nosbusch was 1 of the 3 Badgers on the preseason B1G watch list.  Another Badger having a great start to year is Goalkeeper Michele Dalton who's GAA(Goals Against Average) stands at 0.99, which is amazing and a clear reason why she was also named to the B1G preseason watch list.

This week, before starting B1G play the Badgers will take on Central Michigan on Wednesday.  Coincidentally students get in free for that game and have a chance to win free football tickets to the Badgers vs. Northern Illinois game at Soldier Field on Saturday!  Get out there and have some fun students!!  Saturday will see the Badgers play host to their 1st B1G contest of the year as they take on Penn State at 1pm in a match that pits the preseason #1 and #3 picks in the B1G.  Good luck to the ladies and as always... ON WISCONSIN!!
