The Badgers Men's Soccer team is 5 games into it's season and having a bit of an identity crisis so far. They ripped off 2 straight wins in Blacksburg, VA in the Hokie Invitational that Virginia Tech hosted, including a 2-1 win over the Hokies. However, a few days later they began a 3 game losing streak and their record stands at 2-3-0 after this weekend's home losses.
Bucky's 3 game losing streak started on the road against a very talented and historically powerful Virgina Cavaliers squad. They dropped that game 4-2 to the Cavs. Returning home things didn't get better for the Badgers as they took on #9 UC-Irvine on Friday, losing a heartbreaking 3-2 Overtime game that featured the Badgers getting out shot 25-8 in the game. Things didn't get better on Sunday afternoon as the undefeated Memphis Tigers upended the Badgers 2-1. The effort was much better as the Tigers and Badgers both had 9 shots on goal.
Leading the way for the Badgers in points on the season is Joey Tennyson with 5 (2 goals and 1 assist), who is tied for the goals lead with Josh Thiermann. On top of the leaderboard for assists is Tomislav Zadro with 3 on the early season.
Up next for Wisconsin is another Friday/Sunday weekend matchup and UIC plays host as the Badgers take on Drake on Friday and at SIU-Edwardsville on Sunday. Hopefully a change in the level of competition will see the Badgers get back to their winning ways.
