A very nice crowd of just over 3,700 took in the Badgers annual Red/White scrimmage at the Kohl Center this afternoon, expecting to see the usual suspects of Jordan Taylor and Mike Bruesewitz take center stage.  However, Sophomore Ben Brust had other ideas, stealing the show, while scoring 22 points and leading the Red Squad to a comfortable 72-56 win.

Sure it was just a scrimmage and doesn't necessarily mean a huge deal when the whistle blows for tip-off on Nov. 12th against Kennesaw State, but getting that kind of production in front of a crowd and not behind the closed doors of practice is a great sign of what we could possibly expect from Brust this year.  Providing a scoring punch off the bench is always a huge part of the Wisconsin game and he could very well fill that role.

Brust wasn't the only one to impress on the Red team, with two other guys hitting double figures.Ben Brust  Juniors Bruesewitz and Jared Berggren added 18 points a piece in the winning effort.  Brust was able to get it done both inside and out, scoring on two 3 point bombs and also having 8 points inside the lane.

Over on the White side of the scrimmage there were two standout performances, led by Senior Jordan Taylor and his 16 points.  Fellow Senior Ryan Evans added 14 more in the losing effort.

Wisconsin will have one final warm up as they take on Wisconsin-Stevens Point in their only exhibition of the year on Nov. 5th at 8pm Central from the Kohl Center, so we should get a better idea of what kind of rotations this younger team will be looking at to start the year.
