Badgers Women's Hockey Completes Weekend Sweep
After an 11-0 victory over Lindenwood on Friday the Badgers and Lady Lions hit the ice on Sunday and the Badgers came out of the weekend with a 2-0 record after winning 13-0 today. The Badgers out shot Lindenwood 72-3 on the day and it was just plain domination as the Lady Lions are working there way from a club team to Division 1.
The weekend sweep was also a 2 game shut out of Lindenwood as the Badgers out scored them 24-0 for the Series. Just in case you are wondering, the 13 goals scored by Bucky sits tied for 3rd most by any team in a single game at the D1 level. Leading the offensive thrashing was senior Hilary Knight and junior Brianna Decker, who both recorded hat tricks. The hat trick's for Knight and Decker also helped them to tie Kelly Jaminski for the team points lead at 7 to star the 2011-12 season.
Amazingly all 13 skaters that took to the ice in this series were able to score points for the Badgers, including all four freshman, so confidence for the young players has started quickly.
These wins also push the women's Hockey team's unbeaten streak to 27-0-2 in it's last 29 games. They will have to wait until Oct. 8th at 2pm when they take on #7 North Dakota at home to hopefully extend that streak to 30 games. Hope as many of you as possible can get out and support one of the best programs Wisconsin has.. Until then, ON WISCONSIN.
