Week 9 of NFL play proved to be a great one for Packer fans as they walk out of it at a confident 8-0 and that paired with a Badgers’ win after two straight losses made for a great weekend in Wisconsin sports.  It’s time to take a look at the other games involving former Badgers and see who earns this week’s “Player of the Week.”

The New Orleans Saints defeated Tampa 27-16 and Jonathan Casillas started for only the 2nd time this season and played a strong game at linebacker with 10 tackles.

Pittsburgh fell to Baltimore 23-20 in a nail-biter with neither Lee Evans nor John Clay seeing playing time.  Clay is still signed to the Steelers’ practice squad but Evans didn’t see playing time due to an ankle injury.

The Houston Texans defeated the Cleveland Browns 30-12 and J.J. Watt had another strong defensive game for Houston with three tackles.  Owen Daniels had another solid week at tight end for the Texans with three receptions for 32 yards.  Garrett Graham was once again active for the Texans but did not record any stats in week 9.  Joe Thomas started at LT for the Browns in the week 9 loss to Houston.

Arizona defeated St. Louis 19-13 in a tough match and Lance Kendricks saw playing time with one reception for seven yards.  On the winning side of that battle O’Brien Schofield had another great week with six tackles.

The Jets and Bills faced off in Buffalo with the Jets coming out on top and their defense forcing 3 turnovers in the first eight Bills possessions – as many turnovers as first downs.  Kraig Urbik started at right guard for Buffalo but didn’t post any stats while on the other side Jim Leonhard was a part of the rock-solid defense the Jets displayed with 3 tackles.

Travis Beckum saw playing time but recorded no stats in the Giants’ 24-20 win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Chris Pressley and the Cincinnati Bengals beat Tennessee 24-17 and Pressley caught two passes for 13 yards.

Free-agent David Gilreath was removed from the Colt’s practice squad on October 25.

Dallas defeated Seattle 23-13, with Bill Nagy still on IR and expected to miss the remainder of the season due to an ankle injury, John Moffitt starting at his usual guard position, and Chris Maragos seeing playing time at Safety for Seattle.

Matt Shaughnessy remains on IR for the Oakland Raiders and didn’t play in their 38-24 loss to Denver in week 9.

First-round draft pick Gabe Carimi missed Chicago’s week 9 win over Philly due a knee injury he’s still nursing.

Scott Tolzien remains inactive for the San Fransisco 49ers, who sit at 7-1 after their 19-11 victory over the Washington Redskins.

DeAndre Levy and the Lions were on a bye in week 9.

This week’s WiscoBadgers.com Player of the Week award was a little tougher to determine, but will be given to Jonathan Casillas of the Saints.  Casillas played a tough game at Linebacker in the defeat of the Bucs, putting up four solo tackles and six assists, finishing the game out with a strong ten tackles – his highest yet this season.  He’s continuing to play great games and this is his 2nd WiscoBadgers.com Player of the Week Award this season.  Congratulations Jonathan and tune in to see the Badgers bring the axe down on Minnesota this weekend.
